Remember, decoupage really is a crafting idea that enabled you to express exactly the colours and images you like. And no two decoupage projects end up the same. So have fun and get cutting and gluing.
What we need to make a decoupaged picture frame
- Decorative papers, wrapping papers or fun images
- Scissors
- A picture frame with a wide edge
- PVA glue
- Rick rack wavy trim
- Buttons for decoration
Let's Start With Our Decoupages Picture Frame
Step One
First, understand there are no rules. So don't worry about making anything perfect. There is no perfect. Decoupage is all about just having fun. Even if you make a mistake, with decoupage, it still looks good.
So start to cut up some of the papers into squares and rectangles. Use fun papers and wrapping papers and anything you like. It could be old books, magazines, even music paper.
Lay your frame down and start laying out the papers next to the frame in a frame shape. This way you can move them around before gluing.
Start Sticking Your Decoupaged Picture Frame
Step Two
Now we can start sticking the papers onto the picture frame. I like to start with bigger pieces and then overlap smaller and smaller pieces. But you can do it however you like. Apply glue to the pieces of paper and gently smooth them onto your picture frame.
If you want to start layering the papers, it is best to let the glue dry before layering.
Continue gluing papers until the frame is filled. But remember, we can always leave it and come back and add more later.
Add More Decorations To Our Decoupaged Picture Frame
Step Three
It's fun to add more things other than just papers. Apply glue to the back of buttons and glue them in place on the frame, where you like. If you know an adult who has a hot glue gun, ask them for help.
A hot glue gun is only to be used by an adult as the glue gets very, very hot.
Let's Finish Our Picture Frame Decoupage Project
Step Four
Finally we can cut some lengths of rick rack tape. Rick rack tape is a wavy tape used in sewing. Use PVA glue to glue the tape to the frame. Here we have stuck it on to create a neat border for the picture.
Leave all the glue to dry completely. Now all we need to do is to add a picture to our decoupaged picture frame.
Now you get the idea, you can see how easy it is to decorate simple picture frames and make them look amazing. And make your picture frames perfectly match your interiors.
