Decoupage A Wooden Box And Impress Your Friends
I made myself a decorative box to keep my sewing stuff and embroidery threads inside. All you need is a wooden box. You can buy these from places like Hobbycraft or The Works if you are in the UK. Then just some basic craft materials to create a design.
I have chosen to decoupage an Autumnal leaf design onto my box. You can choose any design and colours that you like. You can even paint the wooden box in brighter colours if you want to.
Decoupage a wooden box and give it as a wonderful keepsake box.

Making The Design For A Decoupage Wooden Box
Step 1
Start by painting your wooden box in the cream emulsion paint, or a colour of your choice. You will need to apply two to four coats of paint, waiting for the paint to dry between coats. Then make black and white printouts of your design, I have chosen leaves for mine.
Then tint each of the printouts with washes of the acrylic paints. I have used yellow ochre and red oxide.
Step 2
Then, use the scissors to carefully cut out each of your designs. Also remember to cut away any inner white parts with a craft knife and cutting mat.

Step 3
Next, arrange all of your cut out designs onto the sides of the box and the lid. Glue them all in place using PVA glue. And then leave them to dry thoroughly.
Step 4
Finally, apply a few coats of clear gloss acrylic varnish to the whole thing, this will protect the box. Now you can use your box for anything that you like.
We Have Completed The Decoupage A Wooden Box Project
Really, this is not that complex of a project. And crafting is so much more about enjoying the process of making, rather than just the end products. So take your time and have fun. I find these sort of crafting projects so relaxing. I hope you do to.
