To Make These Shoe Display Boxes You Will Need
Materials
- Wooden Wine Crates or Similar
- PVA Glue
- Selection of Newsprint or Magazine Print
- Clear Matt Varnish or Shellac Button Polish
Equipment
- Sandpaper
- Container for PVA Glue
- Small Decorators Paint Brush
- Craft Knife
Preparing The Wooden Crate For Decoupage
Step 1
Start by sanding down each of the wine crates or similar. Then mix together equal parts PVA glue and water, and apply a good coating of it to the inside of the wooden crate.
Step 2
Then apply another coating of PVA glue and water mixture, followed by the newsprint or similar. Make sure that you smooth out the newsprint on the inside of the crate. The glue should be absorbed by the paper.
Then apply undiluted PVA glue to it and along the edges, and smooth it over. Leave it to dry thoroughly before applying more paper and glue. This will create a lovely random design all over the wooden shoe display boxes.
Adding Varnish Or Polish
Step 3
Once the wooden shoe display boxes are completely dry, trim along the outside edges using a craft knife. Trim the excess paper until it looks neat.
Step 4
Finally, varnish the whole box using either clear matt varnish, or for a more aged look use shellac button polish. Leave to dry completely and then apply another layer of varnish or polish. Now you have some lovely fun decorative shoe display boxes to display your shoes. Make as many as you need.
