Make Personalised Jeans For A Real Fashion Statement
Decorate and personalise your jeans and make them really interesting. A simple design of beads and rick rack tape can really make your jeans stand out. Once you know how to decorate and personalise your jeans, what other pieces of clothing can you decorate?
A nice project for anyone interested in fashion.
What You Need To Personalise Your Jeans
- Pair of jeans
- 1m or 3 feet of rick rack tape
- Another 1m or 3 feet of rick rack tape in a different colour
- Sewing thread and needle
- Fine needle for beads
- 60 little beads
- 60 small buttons
- Scissors
Let's Start To Personalise Your Jeans
Step One
First we need a length of rick rack tape that will fit all the way around the bottom of your jeans legs. You can roughly cut a length of rick rack tape slightly longer than you need because we can trim it just before we sew the end.
Start sewing the rick rack tape around the bottom of your jean's leg. Use a simple running stitch. I find sewing very relaxing. So get all cosy somewhere, with a nice drink and maybe some music or tv and just enjoy your sewing.
When you have sewn the rick rack tape all around the bottom of the leg, trim off any excess and finish the sewing.
Repeat with the other leg.
Now We Can Sew Beads Onto Our Personalised Jeans
Step Two
Now we need a fine needle that we can get beads over. Thread the needle and start sewing another running stitch. But this time, slip on some of your beads every 1cms or half an inch.
Keep going all the way around again. Then repeat for the other leg.

Step Three
Now for this design, we will add another row of rick rack tape, as before. This time 2cms or three quarters of an inch about the previous row. Remember to find a nice place to sew and take your time with this project.
Finish The Personalise Your Jeans Project
Step Four
Now we can finally finish our personalised fashion project. So we want to sew a third time around each leg. This time we want to sew on little buttons around the leg. Again about 2cms or three quarters of an inch above the second row of rick rack tape.
Sew on buttons at about 1cm or half an inch intervals. Make sure to cast off securely. Then finish adding buttons to the other leg.
Congratulations, you have finished a really fun project. It's a great way to practise your sewing, so you can get more confident. And even though the sewing may take some time, you will get to wear your personalised jeans for ages to come.
