Making a Personalised Fun Fleece Hat Is Easier Than You Think
This is one of the simplest garments you can make and yet it still looks cool. A great way to express your design skills, fun and will even keep your head warm in winter too.
You could even chop up an older fleece jumper to make this hat. But ask first.
Making and decorating clothing is a great way to get children to be creative. And once you've finished your project, you get to wear it. Brilliant!
What do we need to make a fun fleece hat?
- Fleece fabric
- Ruler
- Felt pen
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
Let's Start Making Our Fleece Hat
Step One
First to make our fun fleece hat, we need two squares of fleece material. Cut squares that are 30cms x 30xms or 12 inches x 12 inches.
Lay one square of fleece on top of the other. Now sew through both pieces, along the edge about 1.5cms in from the edge, or 5/8 ths of an inch in from the edge.
We need to sew around three of the edges. Don't forget to leave one side open so we can pop it on our head.
Now Add Embellishments To Your Fleece Hat
Step Two
Once we have finished sewing the edges, turn the hat inside out again. Now your sewn edges will be hidden on the inside.
Now find a different colour of fleece fabric and cut out a star shape. If you can't draw a star, simply search the internet for a star shape template.
Remember, you can add any shapes you like, so be creative. Make your design the way you want to.
Sew your designs on to your fleece hat.
Make Some Fun Hat Accessories
Step Three
Next we can cut strips of fleece from the new colour of fleece fabric we have. Tie these strips to make a bundle. Now we can simply stitch these bundles on to the top corners of the fun fleece hat.
Finish The Fleece Hat Brim
Step Four
Finally the last stage of making a fun fleece hat is to simply roll up the bottom edge. Fold the bottom edge over, and fold over again to make a cool brim.
Now we have a really fun fleece hat to wear when we go sledging down the nearest hill. If you have fun making this children's project, think about making a fleece hat for a friend or family member.
