Start Making The Floral Felt Cushion
Step 1 — Create Templates
Enlarge the template of the large flower by the amount you like. Join sheets of tracing paper together if necessary using sticky tape.
Trace the outline of the large flower on the tracing paper template. Cut out the tracing paper template. Trace the motifs of the two small flowers onto Bristol board. Cut out the small flower templates.
Step 2 — Cut Out the Pieces For The Floral Felt Cushion
Iron the iron-on fabric onto the reverse of the floral lawn fabric using a very hot iron with the steam setting turned off. Trace the large flower template onto the reverse of the lilac felt using a fabric pen and cut out two flower shapes.
Using compasses, draw a 16cm (6 1/2in) diameter circle on the Bristol board and cut it out. Trace this circle onto a piece of almond green felt using a fabric pen and cut it out.
Cut six circles, each with a 15cm (6in) diameter, from the cotton fleece. Cut out the large flower shape three times from the fleece, making them 1cm (3/8in) smaller.
Now We Can Assemble The Large Flower For Our Floral Felt Cushion
Step 3 — Assemble the Large Flower for Our Floral Felt Cushion
Place the six 15cm (6in) fleece circles overlapping each other. Put one of the lilac felt flowers on top, ensuring it's centered. Place an almond green felt circle on top. Pin the layers together to secure them for sewing.
Sew around the center of the flower using an almond green thread and a small running stitch. Flip the flower face down on your work surface. Place the three fleece flowers and the second lilac felt flower on top. Pin them to secure.
Use lilac thread to sew a running stitch around the petals of the flower. Our floral felt cushion is coming along nicely.
Step 4 — Make the Motifs
Use an 18mm (11/16in) punch to create twenty khaki green felt discs. Using a 10mm (3/8in) punch, remove the center of these discs. Keep twelve of these khaki green felt discs and glue them onto the almond green felt center of the flower.
Use a 16mm (5/8in) punch to create twenty discs from the floral lawn fabric. Glue the khaki green 18mm (11/16in) felt discs onto the floral discs and allow them to dry for at least 30 minutes. Glue four felt and floral fabric discs onto each flower petal using an all-purpose gel glue.

Step 5 — Create Small Flowers
Use the Bristol board template for the larger of the two flower motifs to draw on the reverse of the backed floral lawn fabric using a fabric pen. Copy the flower shape 24 times and cut out all the flowers, removing any markings with a damp white cloth.
Copy the Bristol board template for the small flower 12 times onto the almond green felt and cut out the 12 flowers. Repeat this process to cut out 12 small flowers from the pale khaki felt, removing any markings with a damp white cloth.
Use a 20mm (3/4in) punch to remove a circle from the center of the 12 khaki flowers and the 12 almond green flowers. Glue a felt flower onto each floral lawn flower using gel glue.
Step 6 — Attach the Small Flowers
Glue the twenty-four felt and floral lawn flowers onto the drum stool, alternating the colors. Use a special glue designed for plastics. To plan your design, cut out several flower shapes from colored paper using the template.
Stick them onto the stool with Blu tack, adjusting their positions until you're satisfied with the overall effect. Replace the paper flowers one by one with a felt and floral lawn flower, securing them with glue.
