Decorate The Christmas Tree Top
We can make all sorts of Christmas decorations and one of the most important, is the Christmas tree topper.
Once we have the basic idea, we can add anything to the top of a tree. How about an angel riding a reindeer singing Christmas carols.
OK, maybe just a more simple angel. Or maybe a Santa made from red felt and cotton wool balls. Or a reindeer with pipe-cleaner antlers. Oh we can make anything!
Have fun coming up with ideas and seeing if you can make them.
So What Do We Need To Make an Angel Christmas Tree Topper
- White card
- 30cm dinner plate for template
- Sequin trim
- Small white pompom
- Feathers for wings
- Glue, stapler
- Scissors, pencil
- Pipe cleaner for a halo
Start Making Our Tree Topper
First we will use the 30cm plate as a template. Place it on your card and draw halfway around it with a pencil. Then cut out the semicircle with the scissors.
We only need half a circle.
We want to glue the sequin trim around the curved edge of the semicircle. But not right at the edge. Glue the sequin trim approximately 1cm in from the curved edge. Allow to dry.
Now Our Tree Topper Needs A Body
Carefully roll the card now to form a cone shape. You can overlap the sides. When you are happy, glue in the overlap and hold until the glue takes hold. If you have stiffer card you can use a stapler to hold the card for you.
Our Angel Needs A Head
Now we simply pop a small amount of glue on a white pompom and glue it to the point of our cone. Now we can use a silver pipe-cleaner to form a circular halo to fit on top of the pompom.
Use a cocktail stick to more accurately apply glue to hold it in place.
Finally Attach Some Wings
To complete our angel use more glue to attach some big feathers to our tree topper cone. Use two white feathers for each wing.
Let the glue dry.
And there we have it. This is a simple design and once you understand how to make the cone, you can really decorate it anyway you like.
