Making Coconut Oil Body Scrub
If you have an exotic tropical holiday in mind, then this is the body scrub for you. The smell, texture and ingredients just make you think of a far-away beach and the bliss that awaits. The smell alone is enough to get you in the right relaxed mindset. But really this coconut oil body scrub is perfect for getting your skin into that healthy and beautiful relaxed, fresh feeling too.
Coconut oil is actually an amazing skin moisturizer. Coconut oil is actually solid at room temperature but quickly melts and is absorbed wonderfully into the skin to give you a beach ready glow. Sometimes it is referred to as coconut butter and is not just for the skin. It makes an amazing hair shampoo treatment and is excellent at repairing damaged hair.
You could also use macadamia oil instead of coconut oil for an alternate tropical vibe or even almond oil, another favourite.
The sugar granules we add towards the end actually make up the exfoliating element. So just make sure to note what type of sugar you are adding. You can pick a sugar which has smaller particles for a less abrasive exfoliant. Type different types of sugar, I have use demerara sugar here as it is my preferred choice.
Ingredients for Coconut Oil Body scrub
- 50g solid coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons 10ml macadamia oil
- 10 drops orange essential oil
- 5 drops lemon essential oil
- 5 drops lime essential oil
- 60g raw brown sugar
- small glass bowl
- 100ml jar airtight
Start Making The Coconut Oil Body Scrub
First we need to add in the coconut oil into a bowl. Then we can add in also the macadamia oil.
Continue Making The Coconut Oil Scrub By Mixing
Next we simply need to combine the two ingredients thoroughly. Start by slowly stirring and combining the coconut oil and the macadamia oil. Use a metal spoon with a long handle and gently stir them together. Once they start to mix we can stir more vigorously. Keep stirring until the two ingredients are whipped up and soft and fluffy looking.
Now Our Coconut Oil Body Scrub Needs Essential Oils
Now we can add in the essential oils and again stir them all together carefully. Make sure all the of the ingredients are thoroughly stirred together and mixed and combined.
Now Add The Exfoliant To Our Coconut Oil Body Scrub
Now we can add in the sugar we have selected. Remember the size of the sugar granules will determine how abrasive our body scrub will be. So try sugars with different size granules to get a different result and see which you prefer. Here I am using demerara sugar.
Again, stir in carefully to make sure all the ingredients are even mixed.
Finishing Making Our Coconut Oil Body Scrub
To finish making our coconut oil body scrub all we need to do now is carefully spoon the completed mixture into a nice jar. Make sure to label the jar with the date and the ingredients.
And there we have it. A little pot of sunshine, made all by ourselves. Hopefully you are getting ready for a wonderful holiday and this is just the first step.
When you are ready to use the coconut oil body scrub, simply just massage it into damp skin whilst in the shower. Some areas of the skin require more attention like the knees and elbows. Also take special care of sensitive or delicate areas of the skin. Wash off the scrub and you will be left with a layer of the coconut oil to gently massage in for an exotic and wonderful feeling, refreshed body.
