Start Making Our Felt Heart Candle Holder
Step One — Create The Motif
Measure the height and circumference of your glass jar. This example uses a jar that's 9cm (3 1/2in) high and 25.5cm (10in) in circumference.
Iron the lightweight iron-on fabric onto the reverse side of the square ivory felt. Trace the heart motif onto the ivory felt and then transfer it onto the iron-on fabric.
Step Two — Cut Out The Heart Motif
Carefully cut around the outer edge of the heart using embroidery scissors. Cut out the shaded sections inside the heart, referring to the diagram as a guide.

Step Three — Assemble The Felt Heart Candle Holder
Trace the heart motif outline onto the reverse side of the beige felt, ensuring it's centered. Draw a line 3mm (1/8in) inside the outline and cut along this line using embroidery scissors.
Place the beige felt right side up and apply glue around the edge of the heart. Gently place the cut-out ivory heart on top and apply light pressure for a few minutes.
Leave it to dry for at least half an hour.
Step Four — Assemble The Candle Holder
Sew a small blanket stitch (see page 13) all the way around the heart using ivory thread. This stitching will keep the heart secure, even if the candle's heat melts the glue.
Turn the felt strip to the reverse side, overlapping the edges slightly, and secure with a row of small stitches. Turn the finished candleholder cover right side out.
Step Five — Add Finishing Touches To Our Felt Heart Candle Holder
Slide the cover over the glass jar. If the felt cover is too loose and slides around, gently lift parts of the cut-out felt heart one at a time and apply a small amount of glue using a paintbrush.
Hold it against the jar for three minutes. Allow it to dry for two hours before placing a tealight inside the jar.
