Start Making Felt Strawberry Hairclips
Step 1: Create Templates
Trace the strawberry and leaf motifs onto tracing paper and carefully cut them out. Cut the fuchsia felt into two equal-sized pieces. Place the strawberry template on the reverse of your felt and create two mirror images of the strawberry by tracing with a fabric pen.
Place the leaf template on the reverse of the purple felt and draw the outline. Cut out the three shapes using embroidery scissors.
Step 2: Decorate the Strawberry
Before sewing on the beads, determine where you will place the leaf at the top of the strawberry to avoid sewing on a bead underneath the leaf. Use a beading needle and white sewing thread to sew nine white seed beads onto one of the strawberries. Making felt strawberry hairclips is fun and they make a great gift.

Step 3: Assemble the Strawberry
Place the two strawberry parts together and sew around the edge with a blanket stitch using fuchsia thread. Just before finishing, stuff the strawberry with kapok stuffing. Ensure it looks firm and plump and doesn't flatten out when worn.
Complete the stitching. Glue the purple leaf to the top of the strawberry.
Step 4: Assembly
Sew the strawberry onto the center part of the hairclip. Alternatively, you can use extra-strong glue to attach the strawberry, but this may make it less robust.
Step 5: Large Hairclips
The number of strawberries you make will depend on the length of your hairclip. For an 8cm (3 1/8in) hairclip, you will need three large or four small strawberries.
Vary the colors of the strawberries and beads as you create them. A strawberry sewn to a decorative elastic band can be used to make a matching hair band.
