Glue them to a stick and decorate your home or garden ready for a party or just for fun.
What We Need To Make Large Card Flowers
- Plain paper
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Pieces of coloured card stock
- Glue
- Coloured paper
- Rick rack tape
- Decorative buttons
- Gardening sticks
- Sticky tape
Start Making Large Card Flowers With Some Templates
Step One
First we need some flower templates. You can search the internet for flower shape templates and collect some shapes that are all different. Or copy the templates above, resize and print out at the size that matches your card.
Once you have your print outs, cut out the flower template shapes.
Place the templates on the back of the coloured card and draw around them with a pencil. We need two different colours of card per flower. So repeat tracing the same flower template shape onto another colour of card.
Cut Out The Large Card Flowers Templates
Step Two
Carefully cut out all your flower template shapes with some scissors. Ask an adult for help if needed. I find it easier to do each stage all at once, for multiple flowers.
It really nice to make a bunch of flowers at once. Either for display inside in a vase, or we can poke them in the lawn for a wonderful party display.
So trace many flower templates onto many pieces of card and then cut them all out at the same time.
Assemble Our Large Card Flowers
Step Three
We need two different coloured pieces of card for each flower. Now we can stick one on top of the other. But twist the top one slightly so we can see the bottom petals between the top petals.
Glue them together however you think your two flower card flower templates look nicest.
Next we can start decorating our large card flowers. Cut circles from coloured papers and stick them onto each petal and at the centre of the flower.
Finally Finish Decorating Our Large Card Flowers
Step Four
Let's finish decorating our large card flowers. Of course you can decorate your card flowers however you like. Maybe add some glitter or tissue paper that can flow in the breeze. Shiny or patterned papers also add extra colour.
Here we are adding some rick rack wavy tape. Add the tape in short lengths between the flower centre and the circles on the petals. Then finish by adding some buttons.
Finally we can add our homemade card flowers to some gardening sticks. Use glue and tape to attach the flowers. Or ask an adult to use a hot glue gun.
Then all you need to do is display your colourful card flowers somewhere where people can see them. Maybe arrange them in a nice vase in your kitchen or living room. We like to poke them in the lawn in a fun large flower display and have a little picnic amongst them.
