How To Sew Your Own Guitar T-Shirt

What We Need To Make A Guitar T-Shirt
- 30 x 30cms or 12 x 12 inches fabric for guitar motif
- 30 x 30cms or 12 x 12 inches fusible web
- Paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- T-shirt
- Embroidery thread
- 3 buttons
- Sewing thread
- 3d fabric paint
First We Need A Guitar Template For Our Guitar T-Shirt
Step One
To start making our guitar motif t-shirt we need a guitar template. You can search the internet for "guitar shape template" and use one of those. Or copy the template above, resize it to the correct size you want and print it out. Cut out the guitar template.
Now take the fabric we are going to use for the guitar motif and ask an adult to iron on some fusible web to the back of the fabric. Fusible web is like a glue sheet with a paper backing.
Now place the guitar template onto the paper side of the fusible web and draw around the template.
Cut out the fabric shape. Peel off the paper and ask an adult to iron on the guitar motif, on to the t-shirt, in the position where you want it.
Now Sew Around The Guitar Motif
Step Two
Now you can start to sew your own guitar t-shirt. So take your time and carefully just sew around the guitar motif. We can use a stitch called blanket stitch.
Blanket stitch is where you go in the front, slightly in from the edge of the motif. Then move along and come back to the front at the edge of the motif and along one stitch. But before you go back in the front again, hook the thread. This makes a square sort of stitch. Have a practise.
Sew On Some Buttons To Your Guitar T-Shirt
Step Three
Let's continue to sew your own guitar t-shirt. Sew on three buttons to your guitar motif. Arrange the buttons how you think they look best.
Finally Finish The Sew Your Own Guitar T-Shirt Project
Step Four
Finally use a 3d fabric pen to draw some small dots down the handle. You can also draw any other details you like. Have fun!
