Flip-Flops Are Cheap and Fun, but Are Often a Bit Boring
I love wearing my flip-flops all day when I'm on holiday or on a vacation. So why don't we glam up our flip-flops a bit, so they are more interesting and exciting.
We can simply add some easy decorations to plain flip-flops, and turn them into super glamourous rainbow flip-flops.
What do we need to make rainbow flip-flops?
- Sheer, narrow ribbons, various colours
- 4 wooden beads
- 1 pair of flip-flops
- Scissors
- Ruler
How To Decorate Your Flip Flops For Summer
Step One
First we cut one ribbon into two lengths of 20cms or 8 inches. Then we cut the other colours into lengths of 10cms or 4 inches. We need 18 lengths of the shorter ribbon for our rainbow flip-flops.
When we cut the ribbons, it is best to cut the ends at an angle. This looks nice and also helps prevent the ribbons from fraying.
Make Ribbon Decorations For Flip Flops
Step Two
Now we lay down the longer length of ribbon on our table. We will use this longer length to tie all the other lengths together.
So now with the longer length on the table lay across a bunch of the other shorter lengths of ribbon. Here we have in our bunch:
- 3 pieces of pink ribbon
- 3 pieces of green ribbon
- 3 pieces of blue ribbon
So, again, basically we are wrapping 9 pieces of ribbon (10cm or 4 inches), with one piece of ribbon (20cms or 8inches).
Wrap all the ribbons and tie them together with a tight knot.

Step Three
Let's keep going making the decorations for our rainbow flip-flops.
Now we have our ribbon bundle tied. Add on a bead to each end of the longer ribbon. Thread the bead on to one side of the longer ribbon and tie on tightly. Then add the other bead to the other side and tie again tightly.
Repeat the above, because we have two feet :)

Step Four
Now we are at the final part of our rainbow flip-flops make. Finally, use the longer ribbon again. Use that ribbon to finally tie our ribbon bundle decoration on to the front of your flip-flops.
Tie a few knots to make sure they are securely attached to your flip-flops.
And here we are. We have easily and quickly turned our boring flip-flops that everyone has. Into some fun and glamourous rainbow flip-flops, that only we have.
Of course, you don't need to follow the design we did. Use your own coloured ribbons and beads and maybe think about other ways you can decorate your flip-flops. Get creative and have fun. Maybe decorate some for your friends or families flip-slops too.
