Ingredients for Vetiver and Vanilla body cream
Oil Phase
- 10g coconut oil
- 5g shea butter
- 7g emulsifying wax
- 2 teaspoons or 10ml almond oil
- 1 teaspoon or 5ml macadamia oil
Water Phase
- 4 tablespoons or 60ml of spring water
- half a teaspoon or 2.5ml of glycerin
Cooling Phase
- 10 drops of vitamin E oil
- 20 drops of preservative
- 10 drops vanilla absolute
- 5 drops vetiver essential oil
- 5 drops cedarwood essential oil
Equipment
- double boiler
- glass jar
- small saucepan
- thermometer
- milk frother
- bowl of cold water
- metal spoon
- 100ml jar
How To Start Making Vetiver and Vanilla Body Cream
Step One
We of course start with the oil phase of the preparation. Into the double boiler we add the shea butter and the coconut oil. Start heating and then add in the emulsifying wax.

Step Two
Now we can add in the macadamia oil and the almond oil. Continue heating all the ingredients until they start to melt.

Step Three
Now we need another double boiler or a glass jug in a saucepan of hot water. So pour in the spring water into the double boiler or jug and start warming. Now add in the glycerin.
Now We Need To Match The Temperatures Of The Oil And Water Phases
Step Four
Keep heating the oil phase ingredients until they are all melted and combined. Now we need to check the temperatures of each phase. We want to start getting them close to the same temperature so we can start combining both phases together. So keep checking the temperatures of both phases until they both reach 167-176 degrees Fahrenheit or 75-80 degree Celsius.
Remove The Water Phase From The Heat
Step Five
Now carefully remove the water phase from the heat or the double boiler or saucepan. Obviously it will be very hot, so please take care. Use a good insulating cloth as we will need to hold it for a while.
Now We Can Start To Froth The Oil Phase
Step Six
Pop the milk frother into the oil phase which is still sitting in the double boiler. Turn the frother on and make sure it is touching the bottom of the pan so it is under the liquid. This will reduce down the number of bubbles and air we introduce into the mixture.
Now We Are Going To Combine The Water Phase Into The Oil Phase Of Our Vetiver And Vanilla Body Cream
Step Seven
Now with the frother still going and under the surface, gently start pouring a steady stream of the water phase into the oil phase. Continue pouring for approximately one minute and both sets of ingredients are combined and mixed together.
Now We Can Start Cooling Our Vetiver And Vanilla Body Cream
Step Eight
Once all the ingredients are combined lift the double boiler pan and place it into a bowl of cold water to start cooling the body cream. Continue to blend until the mixture starts to thicken slightly.

Step Nine
Once our Vetiver and Vanilla body cream has cooled we can add in the essential oils, the vitamin E and the preservatives.
