A Fun Paper Hanging Mobile With A Sea Theme
This was really fun to make with my children. They absolutely love going to the seaside, but we haven't been for a while, so we put a big sandpit in the conservatory with loads of shells. And made this lovely paper sea themed hanging mobile to hang from the ceiling.
We made it really colourful. This idea can be applied to any theme, space, flowers, animals, birds, etc. So get your team of little workers together and make a few fun themed mobiles to decorate a dull corner of your home.

Sea Themed Shapes For A Paper Hanging Mobile
1st Stage
First, find a template of an octopus, either a print out or a photocopy. Then cut out two octopus shapes from the cardboard making sure that they are identical. Then cut out eight simple fish and starfish shapes in a variety of sizes following your own design.
2nd Stage
Then fold the coloured papers in half. Then draw around each of the cardboard shapes. Then use your hands to carefully tear out the design, slightly outside of your pencil lines. Make two for each design.
Making Paper Sea Creatures
3rd Stage
Next, glue the coloured paper onto both sides of the cardboard shapes. Then use contrasting coloured paper to tear some eyes, tails, scales and other details for your sea creatures, and glue them securely into place.
4th Stage
Now, cut a slot into each of the octopus shapes, one halfway down from the top and the other halfway up from the bottom. Punch a hole into each arm of the octopus, and two holes into each head piece. Then punch a hole into each sea creature on the top edge.
Assembling A Paper Hanging Mobile
5th Stage
Now, slot together the two octopus pieces. Then use the thread to hang each of the sea creatures from each octopus arm. And finally tie some tread to the top of the octopus to make your hanging mobile complete. And now you can hang it up.
