As a child, I used to love making paper flowers. I remember being bought a kit with loads of colourful tissue paper and a sheet of ideas for different decorative paper flowers to make. I loved it and made vases of paper flowers for my family.

I think that the paper flowers make a gift box look really special. Like you have made a special effort to wrap someone's gift. It feels like some extra thought has gone into it, which is always appreciated. This is a great gift box design for Birthdays, Mother's Day, Wedding, etc.

Have fun making these paper roses gift boxes. I think they will be a timeless classic forever and ever.

We will start by making the paper roses. First, cut through the folded crepe paper to make strips that measure around 5cm wide. You will need to tape two strips at right angles to each other. Fold one over the other and repeat to make an accordion type shape and structure.

Then, hold the ends of your folded shape, stretching the accordion shape to full extension, and wind it up around itself and twist it to form the rose shape. Then tape the ends of the strips to whatever you would like to use as a small stalk. Repeat this process and make as many roses as you like in a range of different colours of your choice.

Take your round box and lid, then cover it with crepe paper, neatly pleating it and sticking it down as you go to keep it as flat as possible in the centre of the lid. As this is where your beautiful paper roses will sit.
