Make A Classy Bedroom Screen With An Architectural Theme
Here is a little craft project for your home, it is actually quite simple, but really effective. During the eighteenth century, print making in homes became really popular. And a lot of bedrooms had dressing screens to separate the room.
All that you need is a ready made panelled screen and some craft materials. You can choose any designs or prints that you want. I chose black and white architectural pictures for my bedroom screen. You can also choose any emulsion paint colour that you wish.
I have wanted to make one of these room separator screens for such a long time. Now my Mum wants me to make her one for her bedroom as well. She is going to help me make hers as she is really crafty as well.
Things You Will Need To Make An Architectural Bedroom Screen
Materials
- Pre Cut Three Panel Screen
- Water Based Wood Undercoat
- Duck Egg Blue Coloured Emulsion
- Black and White Architectural Pictures
- PVA Glue
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Clear Acrylic Varnish
- Piano Hinges and Screws

- Small and Medium Decorators Paint Brushes
- Fine Grade Sandpaper
- Craft Knife
- Cutting Mat
- Container for PVA Glue
- Pencil
- Ruler

How To Make A Room Divider Bedroom Screen
Step 1
First, lay out the screen and paint all of the screen panels with a white undercoat. Then lightly rub the panels down with the fine grade sandpaper. Next, apply the duck egg blue paint, or any colour of your choice.
Step 2
Now, place all of your black and white pictures onto the cutting mat and carefully cut around them all with a craft knife. Try and keep as much detail as you can.
Decorating The Room Divider Bedroom Screen
Step 3
Now, draw a 4cm border around the top, bottom, and outside edges of the two side panels. And at the top and bottom of the central panel. Then divide the panels up into equal sections and place them side by side. Next, arrange all of your black and white cut out pictures onto the panels and fix them all into place using some PVA glue.
Step 4
If you have any continuous designs, split them out with a craft knife to separate the pictures that will run along all three panels. Finally, paint the edges of the bedroom screen using black acrylic paint to create a border. Use a straight edge as a guide to do this. Let the whole thing dry thoroughly before applying a coating of varnish. Assemble the panels together using the hinges and screws.
