Make A Cat Mask For Kids
Making masks is really fun. This cat mask can go with a whole cat costume and is comfy enough to wear for a while. Dressing up is fun, so why not make this cat mask for Halloween.
Add some pipe-cleaner whiskers and a pompom for the nose.
Things We Need To Make A Cat Mask
- Paper
- Black card and black felt
- Glue
- Scissors
- Pompom
- Pipe cleaners for whiskers
- Hole punch
- Length of elastic
Cat Mask Template
First get a piece of paper and fold it in half. Then print out or copy the cat mask template shown onto half of the paper. You can find other mask shapes and templates online.
Cut out the template cutting through the two sides of the paper at once. Now unfold the paper and you should have a cat mask shape. Don't worry if it is a bit wobbly.
Now we need to glue a piece of black felt to some black card. It needs to be big enough so we can use our template and cut out the shape.
Let the glue dry.
Cutting Out The Cat Mask
Now take the felt and card piece and turn it so the card is face up. Trace around the cat mask template with a pencil and carefully cut through the card and felt layers.
Be careful cutting out the eyeholes, ask an adult for help if needed.
Cat Mask Nose and Whiskers
Now we can decorate the cat mask a little bit. Glue a black pompom onto the nose of your cat. Cut six pipe-cleaners at approximately 10cms in length. These will be our whiskers. Glue them on each side of the mask. Allow the glue to dry.
Finishing Our Cat Mask
To finish our cat mask, we just need to attach some elastic so it will stay on our head. Use a hole punch to make holes on either side of the cat mask. Then simply thread the elastic through the hole and tie.
Try the mask on and guess how long the elastic needs to be before tying at the other end. Ask someone else to help because it is hard see the back of your own head.
Finally cut off any excess elastic and you are done.
What a purrrfect mask to impress your friends.
