A Cardboard Lamp Base Actually Looks Really Interesting
It is really easy to make a pretty lamp base using corrugated cardboard. And it is also sustainable as you are using something that would otherwise be thrown away. I love recycling with craft materials. Corrugated cardboard is a really great material to work with as it has lots of sculptural and textural qualities. You can make so many different shapes and designs with it. And you can choose whatever design you like for your lamp.
Sometimes it can even be fun to make it up as you go along and see what you can come up with. This project only needs a few basic craft materials.
List Of Items Needed For A Cardboard Lamp Base

- Tape Measure
- Craft Knife
- Cutting Mat
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Pencil
Using Cardboard To Make A Cardboard Lamp Base
1st Step
Firstly, cut a piece of corrugated cardboard measuring 52cm X 35cm as a rectangle, and then roll it lengthwise. Make sure that you leave a hollow centre to allow the lamp fixture to fit through. Then glue down the loose cardboard edge.
2nd Step
Next, cut out another piece of corrugated cardboard measuring 135cm X 4cm. Then measure 18.5cm from the top left corner, then draw a line from there to the bottom right corner, and cut along the line. Now, apply some glue to the square end and line it up with the lamps column base.
Then, wrap the cardboard strip around the base, gluing as you go to hold all of the layers down as you do around. Ensure that you keep the base of the lamp completely flat, so it can stand up.
Decorating A Lamp Base With Card
3rd Step
Next, cut another strip of corrugated cardboard measuring 52cm X 4cm. Then wrap it around the base, again gluing as you go to add extra support and strength to the standing part of the cardboard lamp base.
4th Step
Then, cut another 135cm X 4cm strip, and wrap and glue it around the top part of the lamp base, again keeping the top completely flat. I would suggest asking someone who is confident with electrics to put the bottle adaptor lamp fixture in and wire it properly before use.
