The Fun And Messy Part
Step 1
Take your bowl that you will use for a mould and cover it in petroleum jelly which will make it easier to release when done. Then cover it in strips of newspaper. Now push a layer of papier mache pulp into the bowl and leave it to dry completely.
Once dry, release the pulp bowl from the bowl mould. Cover your new bowl with newspaper strips dipped in PVA glue. Then again, leave to dry thoroughly.
Step 2
Once dry, paint the paper bowl using white acrylic primer. Choose your desired design for inside the bowl, and cut the edges, so that the design can be placed and taped flat inside the bowl. Transfer the outline of the design using the pencil.

Step 3
Now paint the background of your picture, I have chosen a light blue and I dabbed lighter paint shades to create a mottled effect background.
Step 4
Finally, paint your design, mixing colours as needed. Once done, paint the edges of your bowl with gold paint. Leave to dry completely, add a coating of varnish and leave to dry again. Now you can use your lovely bowl, or gift it to someone.
