How To Make Peppermint Foot Scrub
Looking after your feet should be as important as looking after your hands or face. Our feet often have a harder time of it. So this peppermint foot scrub is the perfect remedy to tired and aching feet. I like to use this foot scrub as part of a wider foot pampering regime. But really on its own it can make your feet feel wonderful.
We need to be careful with variations on this recipe, because thinner mixtures will mean the pumice powder will simply sink to the bottom of the jar and not add much to each application.
Pumice is actually a form of lava and has been use for many years and for many things. Its abrasive qualities are very useful in natural skin care, but really only for the feet. Pumice is far too sharp and harsh to really be used on the face or delicate skin areas.
Peppermint is a wonderful addition to this recipe because of its invigorating and refreshing qualities.
To apply the pepermint foot scrub, have a bath first or make sure your feet and cleaned and soaked with warm water to relax the skin. Then apply the foot scrub and massage into all the areas that need it. Rinse thoroughly afterwards to remove all traces.

To Start Making Our Peppermint Foot Scrub We Start With The Oil Phase
Step One
First we want to melt the shea butter and cocoa butter together in the double boiler. Make sure to also add in the emulsifying wax.
Add In The Oils To The Oil Phase Of Our Peppermint Foot Scrub
Step Two
Now we can add in the almond oil and the castor oil. Now heat up everything until it is all liquid.
Now We Can Move To The Water Phase Of The Peppermint Foot Scrub
Step Three
Now we can place a glass jar in a saucepan of water. Start heating the water like a double boiler. Put the spring water and the glycerin into the glass jar to heat them up.
Now we want to get the oil phase ingredients and the water phase ingredients to the same temperature before we mix them. So keep heating each phase until they are both approximately 167-176 degrees fahrenheit or 75-80 degrees celsius.
Now Get Ready To Combine The Phases
Step Four
Now use a cloth to carefully remove the glass jug of the water phase from the hot saucepan.
Now We Can Start To Stir The Phases Together
Step Five
Place the electric milk frother into the oil phase double boiler. Make sure the end of the frother is touching the bottom of the pan. This way we will introduce as little air as possible into the mixture.
Now Carefully Add The Water Phase To The Oil Phase
Step Six
Now we can carefully start pouring the water phase into the oil phase. We want to do it slowly and carefully as we mix the contents with the frother. So carefully and slowly start pouring for approximately one minute.
Start Cooling Our Peppermint Foot Scrub Lotion
Step Seven
Once the two phases are combined we can start to cool them. Place the mixture back into the glass jug and place it in a bowl of cold water. Continue using the frother to stir the contents as it cools. The mixture will start to thicken as it gets colder.
Add The Final Ingredients Into Our Peppermint Foot Scrub
Step Eight
Once we are happy the mixture is cool, we can add the remaining ingredients. Add in the preservative and the peppermint essential oil. We want to carefully add in the pumice powder to avoid big clumps. Keep sprinkling the pumice powder and stirring it in to combine it. Here we can add more or less pumice powder if we feel out peppermint foot scrub needs to be more abrasive or not.
Finally To Complete Our Peppermint Foot Scrub
Step Nine
Finally we can add the completed peppermint foot scrub into a nice jar or container. Spoon the mixture carefully into your desired pot and label it with the ingredients and the date for future reference.
