Homemade Argan Eye Serum Is A Thing Of Beauty
The Argan tree produces fruit and inside that fruit are kernels. The Argan oil is made from these kernels. The Argan tree grows in Morocco and the wonderful oils it produces has not been used in natural skincare until very recently.
To produce he Argan oil can be quite tricky and time consuming, and the yield is often low, hence it is frequently sold for a hefty price tag. More often than not the seeds are collected by the local Berber ladies after they have passed through the gut of the goats they keep. The Argan seeds are often softer and easier to work with if they have been previously digested by the goats.
Of course, now commercialism has seen the value of the Argan oil rising, much of the oil is produced in factories by machinery by the same woman.
Note, we can slightly improve our Argan Eye Serum by replacing half of the vitamin E we add with a quarter teaspoon or 1.25ml of pumpkin seed oil. This adds a very slight tightening and lifted effect to our eye serum.
How to use the Argan Eye Serum
We use the Argan eye serum around the eye area and therefore only really need a small quantity at a time. This is why I prefer to keep the serum in a glass bottle with a dropper or pipette. So when we want to apply the serum we really only need a drop.
So use the pipette or dropper to apply a single drop to the end of your index finger. Touch the tip of your finger to the finger on the other hand then apply the Argan eye serum around your eyes. Do not apply the serum too close to your actual eye as this may cause irritation.
Obviously do not apply directly to the eye and another good rule is to never apply anything around the eyes that contains essential oils.
