Frankincense and Orange Body Lotion is Devine
Frankincense is another one of those super ingredients that really needs a lot of time to explore. We all know Frankincense from a certain biblical reference but it so much more than just. It has a wonderful, happy aroma and goes so well with orange. Frankincense, sometimes know as Olibanum has been used possibly for centuries for its anti-aging effects and also for cleansing and refreshing the air.
The essential oil you make with Frankincense is created by distilling the resin of the Boswellia tree. This tree grows in India, Somalia and Southern Arabia.
They actually make the resin first by cutting into the tree's bark. When the sap oozes out it forms a hard resin over the cut marks.
Frankincense was considered so precious it was used by many ancient cultures for religious rituals and for embalming the dead. It was so valuable it was considered a gift from the gods and was placed on the head of royalty when they were buried.
Of course modern skincare has adopted Frankincense as a key ingredient. And to this day it is still highly valued for its anti-aging and regenerating properties.

We Start With The Oil Phase Of Our Frankincense Body Lotion
Step One
We can start with the oil phase which means we need to start by melting all the emulsifying wax in the double boiler.
Start Heating The Oil Phase Of The Frankincense Body Lotion
Step Two
Now we can add the apricot and almond kernel oils and and start heating the oil phase gently until all of the ingredients become liquid.
Now We Can Move To The Water Phase
Step Three
Now we can place a glass jar in a bowl of hot water or a saucepan. If you have another double boiler you can use that. Add into the glass jar the orange flower water and glycerin and gently start to warm.
Now We Need To Match The Temperatures of The Oil Phase and Water Phase
Step Four
Continue to heat the oil phase ingredients until they are completely melted. Now continue to heat both the oil phase mixture and the water phase ingredients until both temperatures reach 167-175 degrees fahrenheit or 75-80 degrees celsius.
Now we can remove the water phase from the saucepan of water and get ready to mix. Be careful handling the very hot glass jar.
Now We Need To Blend The Water and Oil Phases Together
Step Five
Now we want to hold the water phase above the oil phase. Place the milk frother into the oil phase and turn it on low making sure to keep the frother under the surface of the liquid to avoid adding frothy bubbles.
Now carefully and slowly add in a slow stream of the water phase into the oil phase. Keep the frother running to mix the two together as you pour.
Continue pouring for approximately one minute.
Now We Can Start Cooling The Frankincense Body Lotion
Step Six
Now we have blended the oil and water phases together well, we can pause and pop the glass jar with the mixture into a bowl of cold water. Continue blending as the mixture now cools. As the Frankincense body lotion starts to cool it will slowly start to thicken.
Add The Final Essential Oils And Preservatives To Our Frankincense Body Lotion
Step Seven
Keep blending until the mixture has cooled significantly. Finally stir in the preservatives and essential oils.
How To Complete Our Frankincense Body Lotion
Step Eight
