How To Make Perfume Oil
Variation: Artisanal Perfume Essence.
Many modern fragrances combine both natural and synthetic elements, expertly diluted in perfumer's alcohol. However, procuring perfumer's alcohol for personal fragrance creation often necessitates licensing and is restricted in many countries. The contemporary landscape, characterized by a growing community of independent perfumers, has witnessed a revival of oil-based and solid perfumes, reminiscent of the practices embraced by the Ancient Egyptians.
Although the art of perfumery extends beyond the confines of this book, my passion for the craft compelled me to include a glimpse. In fact, while formulating the Cedarwood & Ylang Ylang Bath Oil recipe on the preceding page, I initially crafted the fragrance blend using 2 teaspoons (10ml) of jojoba oil to assess its aroma before blending it into 3.5 fl oz (100ml) of bath oil base. When experimenting with fragrance blends, I recommend adopting this approach to safeguard against unsuccessful blends, thereby preventing the wastage of a significant amount of base oil.
Below, you'll find the instructions to transform the bath oil fragrance into both an oil-based and a solid perfume. You can store these aromatic gems in lip balm tins, antique trinket boxes, or pill containers.
