Ok, first off, I'm not an alcoholic!!! It's the wife!

No, really I am joking. Our friend owns a micro pub and obviously, always has loads of bottles. Currently they just throw them all away. And I have to say, it does seem like an awful shame.

Some of the booze bottles are just so pretty. The more expensive whiskies and gins have absolutely amazing bottles. The design and manufacturing effort that goes into them, you would think that they would offer some system to at least get them back. But I suppose that is probably not really cost effective.

So, in a fit of madness, the wife likes to remind me, I said to my friend, could I have a load of them. I have to say I have never seen him look so happy and he said yes immediately. So now we have a garage that is just full of these bottles. Some interesting, some ordinary, all beautiful and amazing.

But what can we make with all these used wine bottles and alcohol bottles?

I remember watching a video on YouTube years ago about a guy who made an amazing concrete countertop with all interesting broken beer bottles embedded in it. And of course, he made it look effortless and it looked absolutely amazing. So since then, I have always wanted to make a concrete countertop with broken wine bottles in it. But this is a massive amount of work. And of course, is only a one off project.

So what else can you make out of used bottles? I know the obvious thing, of breaking them, somehow, and making drinking glasses. This definitely sounds fun and I'm sure this will be the thing we end up doing. But does anyone else have any other ideas?

I wonder if I could do a mosaic in my bathroom, all over the walls. I wonder what the wife would think about that?
