I have just bought this vintage dress makers mannequin from a lady on Facebook Marketplace. I have been wanting to have a go at making my own clothing for a while. This popped up for the bargain of only £10, so I thought it would be worth getting to try and sew something.

I also love vintage things, so that was a bit of a bonus. I even like how it is a little worn in places, it gives it some character. It looks like it was used in a home economics or textiles class many years ago, as it has something written on the inside. I believe it sizes from a UK size 4 to a UK size 12.

I am wondering, what would be the easiest item of clothing to make for a beginner? And where can I buy really nice clothing fabrics?

Also, are there any fashion sewing patterns that you would recommend? I already have a sewing machine and loads of thread. I have just ordered some Fiskars tailors scissors, some tailors chalk and some Prym glass pins. Is there anything else that I need?

I would love to see any clothing that anyone has made. I really like seeing other peoples beautiful creations.
