Ok, so I've had a particularly weird last month and I'm not sure how I got here, but thankfully it's all worked out ok in the end. Lol!

It all started when my husband was building a new path in our garden and bought way too much concrete. The stone path looks amazing by the way.

He said I should make some sort of ornamental feature for the garden. Like a pretty bird bath or planter or something. He knows I am very crafty and like making things. I asked him how I would do that. He said I could find a form and them use a sand mold, pack it tight around the form. Remove the form and pour some concrete carefully into the mold.

It is at this point I looked straight at the kid's sand pit, perfect, I thought! And I had the perfect form. My mother had given me a mannequin she had in her loft for ages. She is a bit wacky too and already has a fully dressed mannequin in her bedroom that scares the life out of me, every time I go in there. And I thought this would make an amazing concrete garden ornament.

This is where the hubbie eye-rolling started. Anyway we packed her in the slightly moist sand pit, a bit like burying a body, the kids actually helped, so they didn't mind. Then we carefully removed the dead body. Then we poured in the concrete, perfect. It didn't take long to go hard. But we left her to rest for a few days. Then she was born and we named her Connie.

She was quite heavy actually and if you look closely at the picture you will see she has a flat back. Which I am glad about. Because if she had been fully formed like the mannequin, she'd have been Connie in the sand pit forever. More eye-rolling from hubbie.

Anyway we were all impressed with Connie and since she was born from a sandpit and to save her a bit of dignity we all thought she better have a bikini. So we found some nice tiles and stuck them on with tile adhesive.

I have to say I am quite impressed she turned out so nice, although I not quite ready to put her in the centre of the lawn. She does really brighten up one corner of the garden. Although now I am only worried about one thing.

I think she looks lonely and might want a nice man friend to hang out with. Maybe his name should be brick.
