A friend of my father recently gave me these beautiful wooden sash clamps. I thinks that is what they are.

I just wanted to share them as they are so beautifully simple and speaks volumes to the quality that they still feel so strong and haven't rotted or been eaten. A bit of clean up and these wooden sash clamps would probably be good to go.

I guess they are made of oak, as they are pretty heavy and have pretty much no damage to them except the ends where I think they have been stood up in someone's garage for many decades.

I'm not sure how much of a good clamp you could get compared to a metal sash clamp, but I bet its pretty good. They really don't flex much at all, although I didn't want to break it.

The picture makes the one look warped, its not in the real world. Amazing craftsmanship on such a simple tool.

Why is it tools from the past are so much better than tools from today?
