Question Asked:

I have been given loads of old lampshades by a friend of mine with the idea of recovering them with new and interesting fabrics. I would like to cover them in fabrics that do not come as standard on lampshades as I would like something quite unique for my home to match each room. I was wondering whether it is possible to recover existing lampshades? Or do I have to buy all of the stuff and start making a lampshade from scratch?

I would really like to recover these ones if it is possible as this will be the first time I have tried it, and I did not want to spend too much money initially until I have done a few.

Also, does it have to be a special type of fabric that I need to use to recover them? Or can I use any fabric? Is there any special coating that I need to apply to the fabric to make it safe for use as a lampshade?

I would love to see any lampshades that anyone else has recovered or made. I love to see the wonderful creations of others.

Thank you in advance.
