Question Asked:
I have just got into sewing, for the last four months and I would like to know if there is anywhere to get some affordable fabric offcuts, please? I am not too picky about pattern or design as I am still learning and just need to practise some skills before buying larger pieces of fabric.
I really want to start collecting some fabrics for kids mostly, for when I am ready to start a real project. I didn't realise how fiddly and skillful sewing is and I am still just getting my hands used to moving with the machine.
I manage to get smaller pieces from family and friends, but I would like to be able to get more so that I can practise more. I am currently mostly making small cushions, bunting and other smaller items that I can make fit from smaller offcuts of fabric. But I really want to progress to making little outfits for my child. Even if they are just simple pyjamas and playsuits, maybe some bibs and bedding would be fun or a little apron for baking times.
I really wanted to eventually make a pushchair cosy for when winter comes. I don't think this project will be too tricky, as long as my machine can sew a few layers of fleece or something similar. Would be fun to sew a pattern or some sort of design. I saw a fun cow pattern cosy, but to buy them, they are quite expensive where I am and it's more fun to say you made it anyway.
I haven't even tried sewing fleece yet, so I am not quite there yet. Just hoping to build up to that. If I can master a fleece pushchair cosy, maybe I could make a cute little jumper jacket. That would be amazing. It's exciting.
Any recommendations or tips are most welcome as I know there are a lot of creative people out there who can give me some ideas.
Also ideas on fun things to make my toddler would also be appreciated.

I have managed to get some kids fabric offcuts from places like Ebay, Facebook Marketplace and Freecycle. Often people give away or sell for a really cheap price, the leftover fabric they cannot use for anything large. Also, if you have a local fabric store, sometimes they sell their offcuts or pieces they cannot use, at a really good discounted price.
