How can I restore this old vintage sewing machine?

Question Asked:
I was recently given this beautiful vintage sewing machine by a lovely elderly lady in my area. It is really lovely and I would love to restore it and get it serviced properly before using it. I intend to slightly sand and varnish or paint the wooden table that it is enclosed within.
I cannot decide the best way to restore it. I am trying to choose between restoring it properly to its former glory by sanding it down and varnishing the wood? Or whether I should modernise it slightly by sanding it down and painting it with a sage green furniture paint?
My gut instinct is saying to sand it down and varnish the wood back to how it would have been, as I like the idea of restoration to preserve originality. I think it would probably look better to be put back to how it was.
I would love to hear your opinions and see any restoration projects that you have done.
Also, does anyone know of anyone in Northamptonshire or the surrounding area where I can get this type of sewing machine serviced, please? My other sewing machine is new, so does not need servicing yet, but it would be good to find a recommended sewing machine servicer.
And if anyone knows the best way to clean all of these vintage sewing feet, I would really appreciate the tips?
I have attached a picture for reference.
I am very excited to start using it as it is very different to my newer modern one.
Thank you.
Nina

Hi Nina, this is such a beautiful vintage sewing machine. It would be lovely if you could sand down the wood and varnish it to bring it back to its former glory.

Love the vintage sewing machine, it looks beautiful and I bet it will be a lot stronger than a lot of the more modern sewing machines. I think it would be good to sand it down and apply new varnish to bring it back to how it once looked.
