Unfortunately my friend's shop has gone bust and she has quite a sturdy counter that she needs to get rid of. It was all covered in posters, but now it is just chipboard and lumber.

It is very sturdy though, and would make a brilliant home bar project. She actually said I could have it, if I get rid of it. I think she is a very disappointed about her business folding. So I think she needs to be the first person to have a drink at my home bar as we plan the next phase of her life.

So I was after some ideas on how to jazz up the bar. At the moment it does look a bit like a crate on its side. So some sort of decoration ideas would be great.

I have already thought of the obvious things like posters and beer mats and beer bottle labels etc etc. Booze memorabilia. Just feel like all that has been a bit done to death. My wife has about a thousand gin bottles, all over the place. So maybe I'll make it gin themed to keep her happy. Women really like gin :)

But I really wanted something a bit cooler.

Maybe I'll paint a big shark on it or something a bit crazy. The Shark Bar sounds cool. There is actually a cool little bar near me, where their counter is made from old doors cut in half. And the name of that bar is 'Early Doors', lol. I thought that was clever.

So anyone got any good booze puns?

I could call it the Eternal Hoptimist, to cheer up my friend. My wife wants to call it the Hubbie Creche, because she says that's what it's going to be. I said to her, I could call it the Headless Woman, but she wasn't amused.

I could just call it the Cop Shop, as, whether I like it or not, the wife is turning into the Police Chief Ginspector, lol. You nearly laughed :)

Anyway, you are more than welcome to pop round for a cold one, when I am done.
