Hello, I really wanted to show off this absolutely beautiful garden table my friend made. I was so impressed when I first saw it, it's stunning. She has always been really good at drawing and has done some absolutely beautiful paintings. But she said this was her first go at mosaic and I think it is very successful.

So much so, that I really want one for my garden, but I don't want to take away from hers. And I don't really know how much to offer to pay her for her time. But I really would like one, not sure how to approach it.

Maybe I should take a leaf out of her book and have a go myself. I am not as artistic as she is, but maybe I could have a go at something smaller to start with.

She explained how she made it. The base of the table is metal and was made by a friend of hers, who she went to art college with. He works as a car mechanic now, but he is also very creative and made the legs of the table look like leaves. The base of the garden table is actually very pretty in its own right. The leaves of the legs even have little veins welded onto them. What a talented pair.

As I recall the table actually had a flat piece across the top of it and she made up the mosaic on that. I remember seeing it halfway through and it was amazing even then. She sketched it out in chalk on the table top, so I could kind of see the design. But then she said she really wasn't following the design and just wanted to have fun doing it. But she is like that, everything creative seems to easy and effortless and they always turn out amazing.

She chipped away at the tiles with a tool her husband had and then just grouted them down to the surface. I think that's how she did it.

It really is a pretty thing and I really want one. Maybe I should suggest her and her friend start a little side business and go into making them full time. That way I can have one and they can really start putting their creative talents to good use.
