I would really love to buy a laser cutter that can cut plywood and other materials for making models, decorative pieces and things for pets. I have no idea where to start looking for a good one. I have experience with using laser cutters at college and university, but these were really large format. As much as I would love a huge one, I do not need anything A0 size, A2 or possibly A3 should be sufficient for what I am planning to use it for. Any recommendations for the best laser cutter to use at home?

I have seen some YouTubers using different laser cutters for hobby projects. I really love the look of the Glowforge laser cutter and it is within my budget just. I have also had a little look on the Glowforge website. However, I would like some real world reviews and to know if there are any amazing alternatives out there. I am open to suggestions.

My friend has a basic laser cutter, but it is the type with no outer casing, and it takes a very long time, hours in fact to do a simple engraving or to cut through some very thin wood. It does the job, but I would like to find a laser cutter that cuts and engraves relatively quickly, and can cut through a reasonable thickness of plywood. I don't mind paying a little more for speed and an improved cutting and engraving ability.
