Have you ever sat on a leather sofa in your jeans, and as you moved and wiggled... and your jeans rubbed against the leather... you've made a rather unfortunate and frankly embarrassing noise?

"PPPAAARRRRPPPPP!"

Have you ever found yourself saying over and over again, "Seriously... that wasn't me... that was the sofa... ok!"?

Well, my mother has recently had her sofa reupholstered, and now has such a sofa.

And between you and me, I’m starting to think she did this on purpose... so she can invite people round for a nice cup of tea and a rather sublime slice of homemade cake... and then get a good chuckle out of the rather unfortunate sounds her guests make... as they wriggle around... jeans rubbing on leather...

"PPPAAARRRRPPPPP... ppppaaarrrpp... paarp... puppp!"

"That wasn't me... honestly... I'm telling you... that was the sofa!".

Because I have noticed that she owns the sofa... but never actually sits in it. Opting to sit in a rather nice, wooden rocking chair my father made, situated in the perfect viewing position, opposite said offending sofa.

WHAT HAS THIS ALL GOT TO DO WITH CATEGORIES IN THE MAKER’S DATABASE? You are likely asking yourself right now!

Well frankly, my mother's homemade cake, is just so irresistible, that unfortunately it's worth enduring an hour of embarrassment and silent chuckles... just to enjoy its exquisite Victoria Sponge goodness.

So I started the Society of Makers, basically to try to find someone who can make me something, to offer some sort of distraction from all the odd sofa farting noises!

"That wasn't me... honestly... seriously... honestly... anyway... look at this lovely mug!"

...and hopefully... just maybe... eventually... find someone... to make her a new sofa. A nice comfy... QUIET one!

Phew!
