Question Asked:

I would really love to get into painting abstract artwork, but I have no idea where to start with materials. I think I would mostly like to work with acrylic paint and maybe occasionally oil paint.

I am trying to find out if stretched canvases or box canvases are better for paintings? I would love any opinions and thoughts. It would be good to have framing options if needed. I was in Hobbycraft today looking at the different canvases, and I am really struggling to make a decision.

I was actually in Hobbycraft again this morning looking at all of the different canvases. On their website, they seem to have a good discount if you buy 5 at once of certain sizes. Does anyone know if there is a better deal out there if buying canvases in bulk?

Although I would like to take painting seriously and make beautiful artwork, I would like to have fun and not put too much pressure on myself.
Also, I would love to see your artwork and paintings. Art has always had a special place in my heart.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for really good acrylic paint brushes please?

Thank you in advance.

Melissa

In my opinion either is good, but it can be really difficult to get frames for the really large canvases, and the larger frames are usually quite costly.
