Please can someone tell me what this mystery tool is for? My husband found it in a shop and bought it for me as he knows I like collecting interesting things.

I really love to cook and bake and he thought it was a tool for making some sort of food. But I have never seen anything like it. It is a real mystery tool. I don't actually think it is for pasta which is the most obvious thing. I suppose it could be. The rollers actually match up, but don't seem to look like they would actually cut anything.

There is a little clamp which you can't see in the pictures. The clamp is used to fix it to a table I think, I suppose, so you can give the handle a good crank.

Clearly I think the jaws are supposed to open and close and clamp onto something. The body looks like it is made from cast iron and I would say the rollers are made from brass. It's all a bit bashed up, but has a certain amazing antique look about it. But does anyone know what this mystery tool is actually for?

Maybe it is for wringing out socks or something, ha. But then I think it would have rollers more like an old mangle and they wouldn't have teeth, so it is quite confusing.

All the words say, is Crown brand name I suppose, and a patent number. I tried looking it up, but couldn't find anything. It would be great to learn more about it and maybe even learn how to use it.

The husband now thinks this mystery tool might be some sort of torture tool and tells the kids not to put their fingers anywhere near it. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be really good to know.

Even if I can't get the answer, maybe someone can suggest a use for it anyway. Otherwise it is just going to sit on a sad shelf for the rest of its life.
